몇 달 전에 페이스북을 통해서 알게 된 곳인데, 지금 현재 나의 관심사와 매우 근접해 있어서 매우 흥미롭다. 연구 주제부터 접근 방식, 방향성, 쓰는 언어를 보니 이곳에 함께하는 연구자들 대부분이 반골기질 그득할 것이라는 강력한 심증이...

그들이 바라보는 현재 의식과학 연구 상태와 그들이 제시하는 지향이 매력적이라고 생각한다.

Most phenomenological research falls into one of two extremes:

1) Neuroscience that ‘solves’ phenomenology by denying that it’s real- e.g., “consciousness is a ‘god of the gaps’ & something to be explained away”;

2) First-person introspection that ‘solves’ phenomenology by putting it beyond third-person knowledge- e.g., “trying to make the subjective objective is a type error.”

Neither view solves the problem, yet there’s some truth in how each view critiques the other: Neuroscience without phenomenology moves the goal-posts and becomes less than, an obstinate refusal to address the phenomenological elephant in the room. Likewise, phenomenological introspection without connecting results to the physical world becomes a safari with no map, a castle in the sky.

In short- to have knowledge about phenomenology, we need places to put knowledge about phenomenology, and neither the eliminativist nor subjectivist paths allow this.

안타깝게도 People 섹션에는 아래와 같이 소개되어 있어서.. 구체적인 정보는 얻지 못했지만. 미국 돌아가면 좀 더 찾아보고 연락처도 알아봐야겠다. 일단 Mike Edward Johnson과 Andrés Gómez Emilsson이라는 이름은 발견. 후자는 스탠포드 출신 데이터 과학자.
